LOT OF SIX (6) 0.250"D x 2.00" LONG HIGH PURITY ALUMINA CERAMIC ROD REFRACTORY No.: 196 The specifications for these components are as follows: Outside Diameter: Average approximately 0.250” +/- 0.005" (6.3 mm)Length: Approximately 2.0+” +/-0.010 (50.8 mm) You are buying a Lot of Six (6) 0.250" Diameter x 2.00" Long High Purity Alumina Ceramic Rod. They are in mint condition being NOS (New Old Stock). They are made from 98% purity Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3) which of course is Alumina. Generally the balance of composition for this purity Alumina material is of Silicon Dioxide (SiO2) which is Silica. This material has very high hardness, very high stiffness, very good corrosion resistance to chemicals at high temperature, and very high refractoriness or use temperature. They may be used for a variety of electrical, mechanical, and thermal applications. They may be used as setter plates for firing parts in a kiln. The may be used for high temperature furnaces and as high temperature refractory turntables. They may also be used for jewelry or for applications requiring high wear or abrasion resistance. The thermal shock resistance is not very high so exercise rule of thumb caution. “The larger the piece of material the slower the rate of temperature increase should be applied to the piece.” Heat up slowly to avoid cracking in use.
